WHAT YOU PAY

Our fee, the real costs, and nothing else

Every invoice shows the same two things: the flat fee we charge for each employee, and the actual cost of employing that person in Portugal, passed on at the exact amount. We take no share of salary and add nothing to the statutory figures.

OUR MONTHLY FEE
from€499per hire, each month

That fee buys you:

  • Setting up the employment and the paperwork behind it
  • Payroll, IRS returns and payslips each month
  • HR questions and Código do Trabalho compliance
  • A named Portugal specialist on your account
The fee does not move with pay, so a lead engineer is charged at the same rate as a first hire in support.

IN THE FEE

From €499 a month, here is what you get

One fee per employee covers the whole job of employing someone in Portugal: the contract, payroll every month, the returns to the Autoridade Tributária and Segurança Social, and the HR work in between. Nothing is tied to the salary.

Contract under the Código do Trabalho

Written for the role and for any collective agreement that covers it, then sent out for signature the same day.

Payroll every month

Pay worked out with IRS withheld on the 2026 tables, and a payslip sent to your employee.

Tax and social security returns

IRS reported to the Autoridade Tributária, and the 23.75% employer and 11% employee contributions paid to Segurança Social by the 25th of the following month.

Leave and statutory rights

22 working days of holiday, 13 public holidays and any sick or family leave, recorded against each employee.

Day-to-day HR

Amendments to terms, questions from your employee and the practical HR work that comes up in a month.

Benefits administration

We arrange the compulsory accident insurance and set up a meal card, health cover or anything else you want to offer.

A named specialist

The same person stays on your account, and works on Portugal every day.

A single invoice

Salary, contributions, insurance and our fee itemised on one monthly bill.

FEES AND BILLING

Questions about the fee

What sets the fee for each employee?+
Our fee starts at €499 per employee per month. The figure in your quote depends on the role and how much of the employment you want us to carry, and once it is agreed it stays the same from month to month. It covers payroll, the monthly returns, HR support and your named specialist.
Does the fee rise with the salary?+
No. It is a flat amount for each employee, whatever they earn. A lead engineer on €120,000 takes the same work to administer as a support assistant on €40,000, so your budget does not drift as salaries go up.
Are employer contributions part of the fee?+
No, and no provider can absorb them. Employer social security in Portugal, the Taxa Social Única, runs at 23.75% of gross pay with no upper earnings limit, and the rate is set by law rather than by us. We pay it to Segurança Social by the 25th of the following month and show it on your invoice at the exact amount, next to the gross pay.
What sits outside the fee?+
The gross pay itself, the 23.75% employer contribution, the compulsory workplace accident insurance, and any benefits or approved expenses you decide to offer. All of those are billed at the price we pay. Everything else, from the contract through payroll to HR, sits inside the fee.
Which currency do you invoice in?+
Whichever one suits you. Your employee in Portugal has to be paid in euro, because that is the currency Portuguese payroll runs on. Your own invoice is a separate matter, so if US dollars, pounds or another currency is easier for your finance team, we will bill you in that instead.
Am I tied in for a minimum period?+
There is no lock-in. Once an employee leaves, the fee for that person stops. We cannot promise a flat figure such as 30 days of notice, because notice follows the employee’s own rights under the Código do Trabalho and depends on why the employment is ending. We run the offboarding so that it stays within the law.
