Your team in Portugal,
employed properly.
Companies hiring into Portugal from abroad use us as their Employer of Record: our own company carries the compliance, payroll lands correctly each month, and a named specialist answers when it matters.

Someone who knows your account.
An EOR proves itself when something goes wrong. You get a named Portugal specialist who knows your hires, keeps hold of the detail and comes back quickly with the local context that decides the answer.
Questions to ask any provider before you sign
Find the weak points early, decide with the facts in front of you, and onboard sooner.
Who owns compliance
Can they take responsibility for onboarding, contracts and a lawful exit under the Código do Trabalho, rather than describing it?
Payroll accuracy
Pay data has to reach the Autoridade Tributária and Segurança Social on time. Ask how inputs, approvals and records are checked.
Insurance and liability
Workplace accident insurance is compulsory for every employee in Portugal. Ask who holds the policy, what it covers and who carries the liability if a dismissal is challenged.
Data responsibility
Ask who is the controller and who is the processor, which systems hold your data, and how access and retention are managed.
Portuguese HR knowledge
Check that you can reach specialists who work on Portuguese employment daily and take ownership instead of passing you along.
Realistic timelines
Ask for a timeline built from the real steps, including the notice to Segurança Social before the start date and any visa the hire needs.
Costs you can forecast
Look for a fee you can budget against, with any extras named before you scale.
Records you can pull
You should be able to pull contract versions, payslips (recibos de vencimento) and proof of filing without chasing anyone.

What changed for Portuguese employers in 2026
Social security moved to a new monthly cycle in 2026: Segurança Social pre-fills the declaration, the employer confirms it by the 20th, and contributions are paid between the 1st and the 25th. It is optional this year and compulsory from 1 January 2027. The minimum wage rose to €920 a month, paid 14 times. A provider worth signing with follows each change and keeps your contracts and payroll in line with it, which is what we do.
